Type: Lotus Senior Living is a renovation of an existing 3-story, 62,000 square foot, 80-room hotel into an assisted living and memory care facility. An assisted living facility is defined and regulated by the Illinois Department of Public Health. An assisted living facility is part of a continuum of long-term care services that provides housing for persons age 55 and older who need some assistance with the activities of daily living such as meal preparation, medication reminders, etc. in a way that provides maximum independence. The project includes a memory care unit on a portion of the first floor that contains 12 apartments for residents with Alzheimer’s. The memory care unit is secured from the rest of the facility with coded doors on vestibules at each end. The unit includes separate dining facilities with a warming kitchen, laundry, activity area, TV lounge, quiet room and memory stations. The memory care unit has a secure outdoor memory garden to allow residents to enjoy the fresh air.
